President Bush broke his promise to the country by refusing to fire aide Karl Rove for leaking a CIA agent's identity, said Scott McClellan, the president's chief spokesman for almost three years.

Nothing new about what the book says about Bush and his criminal partners. I'm wondering what does it take for Congress to cause truth and justice to prevail. To allow this president to get away for violating of our Constitution will surely be the beginning of the end for all of us. I truly hope Obama can set us on a course to return our honor and pride back to our country.

...Obama?! You're joking right? His family hates America, he has no experience and wants nothing more than a completely Socialist country. Hillary is only moderately better and McCain isn't a prize winner either but at least he's shown what he's made of, agree or disagree.
I'm wondering what does it take for Congress to cause truth and justice to prevail.
It would take Congress not being complicit in all the criminal activity.

McClellan said that right when the outing of the CIA agent Plame happened, Bush and him were walking to Air Force One together, and the media crowd kept asking, "Did you authorize the leak?".
Once on the plane, Bush asked McClellan, "What were they asking?". And Scott answered, "The were asking if you authorized the leak?". And Bush responded, "Yeah - yeah, I did".
If true, that's considered an act of Treason, the "outing of a federal agent", and punishable by execution. Of course, the President is 'above the law', so ... .

Having lived through Watergate, I see a chilling similarity, and again, the President is not held responsible, unless you consider the fact that Mr. Bush holds the lowest approval rating ever! My satisfaction will come in the future, when school teachers will teach that George W. Bush has an asterisk by his name indicating that the Supreme Court "gave" the first term to him, and that Ken Blackwell manipulated the 2004 Ohio outcome for Mr. Bush, while acting as a sitting Secretary of State!
MS. Plame was not a covert agent or even a federal agent she was working at CIA HQ when she and hubby stumbled upon the Wilson to Niger boondoggle. Fitzgerald investigation was only about the cover up after the leak. A minor detail is that assistant secretary of state Richard Armitage is actually the first person to leak MS. Plame's name to the press. He (Armitage) admitted such. Nobody talks about that.
as an employee of the CIA she was an agent. Know what you are talking about before you speak. the fact that it went the way it did shows that our leaders were tring to oust her husband and shut him up.
to the employee of the CIA, oust her husband from where? He was asked to go to Africa by the CIA because he use to be the ambassador there to see what his contacts there had to say about Iraq and their nuclear program. When he came back and wrote an article about his findings disputing what the other side was saying, that's when things started going south, sort a speak. Didn't you read Mr. George Tenet's book?
It does't really matter who put the leak out. You never ever give up the name of an operative, under any condition.
Thank you for input. but it does matter. They need to be held accountable so this will not happen again.
What a croc. Doesn't have the courage to speak up until after he leaves? Gutless. All you Obama/Clinton lovers need to keep quiet as well. The names Obama and Clinton come nowhere near the words honor or honesty. Enjoy your 15 minutes Scotty, you need to remember this phrase, "Welcome to Walmart". Laugh it up now you liberal dems, the only thing more pathetic than this is the fact that you will lose this Presidential election.
If Karl Rove and Scooter Libbey had lived in China or Russia, they would of been shot. But Scooter Libbey worked for V.P. Cheney so he had to have known also. Mr. Libbey didn't do anything without him knowing about it. People need to read the book by ex-CIA director George Tenet. Did Meet The Press have him on their show? Another book to read is by Hans Blix. That was the Chief Inspector for the UN looking for weapons for mass destruction. Both of these books are real eye openers.
Mr. McClellan calls V.P. Cheney the "magic man" in the book. After reading my two books, I would call him, a war mongar, and a pit bull. I know what he means by the term, "magic man".
No, In Russia they would have been next in line to rule the country. They are smart about their leaders even though they seem ruthless, they have the best interests of Russia at heart.
I don't believe McClellan wrote the book. He only placed his name on it, after a democratic candidate paid him too.
Does the name Benedict Arnold some to anyones mind?

Which candidate was that? Proof of that allegation? Who is the Benedict Arnold? And what "treasonous' act did that person commit?

I'm so glad that the individuals who have made comments are members of the President's staff and have the actual knowledge regarding mcclellan's comments. Sorry people, but you need to get a real job where you can write the facts and not what you THINK may have happened because of some stupid comments you have read about. Regardless of who you support, Mr. Bush is the President and should be acknowledged as such until he is not in office. I think that most people do not have an understanding regarding the President and the Democratic Congress and how the government actually works. Please get a grip before making stupid and unconfirmed comments.
oh david and you KNOW. it is our opinions that that reflect what our gov does. and even in your comment you say " i think". shut up. you are exactly what the people dislike. you reject an opinoin yet say the same thing??????
McClellan simply didn't work at high enough of a level in the administration to know the secret reasons for the President's actions. This is like a newsroom rookie second guessing the FBI agent who, with probable cause and years of evidence behind him, makes a certain move.
That book has nothing new to offer, it is old news , spinning as new insight , for which it is not.
The timing of the book seems a little suspect at best. (boring) should have been the title.
It is great that this guy has spoken up, but the American people deserve a lot of credit. They are smart enough to see what this administration has pulled in several areas. It is interesting that they called for Clinton's resignation over sex (which I agree was as tacky as he is), but they have put up with all kinds of garbage from this one. We can all figure out that propaganda is what was the base of this war we're in, but there has been no Boston Tea Party yet, so I guess that says we are approving of it. The American people have to trust that they get honest information, but when a few select people are handed control without accountability, it will get abused. Many studies have been done on this, and it just is a reality. So, we have to as voters decide - do we want some tacky values (Such as how Hillary and Bill treated the White House when they were in it and when they left, but books are balanced and they did do good things in several areas?), or do we want to give a new guy with new ideas and not as much proven experience? We have had the experience of relatives in office many times. Kennedys are not all like John, and he had his faults too. We only can vote for what we see and have experienced. The war in Iraq is not about 'protecting us.' It is about a father being embarresed by someone and the son taking care of and old debt. Oil is a plus for people like Chaney. Russia chased Osama all over the place and never caught him. We have chased him all over the place and not caught him. I don't doubt that there are nuclear weapons (and were in Iraq) in several areas, but we are not going into those countries and doing anything about it. If terrorists really wanted to bring this country down, they would have done it. Flying into buildings was like being a mosquito on a summer's night. They did it to agitate and they are people who have been fed propaganda about us. Just like we do about them. I don't have a problem with going in an helping the people. They lived horrible lives, but we had no plan. Do we build reservations like we have in our own country, which are a result of our great management system and wisdom? Our ideals all come from our puritan Judeo background. Read the Bible, and look into the future. Do you see perfection? JRoss

it seems that all comments seem to deflect the truth. Our president is a waste, a liar, and allows others to run our government. I like the the author had to courage, though belated, to fess up to the (((R( that went on at a time that has led to the thousands of deaths of our soldiers.

Karl Rove is another puppet, like Bush, of Chaney. The war and everything else is and was Chaney's. He didn't want the spotlight or recognition, just the rewards, which he is reaping greatly.
The book is true, otherwise he would be in custody and the book pulled off the shelves. I have always heard, give them enough rope and they will hang themselves, The repubs have done that in the last 8 yrs, and the dems have managed to do it too in 24 months. McCain, a war hero? for getting shot down?
He was a bad pilot, we had thousands of sorties over vietnam, and most all the pilots were shot at, they learned to evade in flight training. He has definitely learned how to evade in politics. Hillary, is a joke, that's the best I can say for her. Obama, I think he is the best of the worst. Cream of the crap.
I have no choice but to go with Obama, cause no way can i stomach the other two.
Not so. Lots of lies are printed every day about Clinton, Bush and other presidents. This is still a free country. Unles the lies are actually libleous and sometimes even if they are, they are just left as lies to sink of their own weight.
Don't trash McCain's efforts as a soldier/pilot. That was one of the things that irritated me the most about the 2004 election and how the Right mistreated Kerry with regard to his military service. That is totally uncalled for IMO.
Reagan made it a crime to reveal the identity of a CIA agent after William Buckley was kidnapped and tortured to death. Anyone that participated in the identification of Valerie Plame as an employee of the CIA has broken the law and that includes Dick Armitage, Robert Novak and, now McClellan alleges, the President himself.

reporters are one thing but our gov who has an obligation to suppot the integrity of the system fails someone need to be held accountable!!

I agree, but I think Novak publishing it for millions to read was just as destructive as anything a govt official did in revealing Plame's identity.

My prediction, is McClellan will support Obama for President--he is certainly "digging" a hole for himself---no one will/or will want to be associated w/a TURNCOAT---sounds like bitter lemons to me---Tony Snow, the past Press Secretary, demanded to be in all meetings w/Bush, etc.; so he wouldn't be caught off guard, and ready to take the "fire" when asked questions by the media---this guy, McClellan is a real "DUD"; the worst Press Sec. I have ever witnessed in the entire Presidential terms---he's a loser, and got FIRED----
Why can't we all just get along??? They keep saying that the countrey is divided by dems and repubs.
We just need a good leader to get out of this mess. We used to be a country that all looked to for leadership and justice. No more. It's this kind of discussion that is doing it. If McCellan lied in the book then Bush and the white house should be suing for libel and slander. Anybody see a lawsuit??? Movie stars do it all the time!!
Where do we go from here??
McClellan has said that he sent a copy of the book to the WH and it was looked over for national security problems. The WH knew what was coming out. Instead of attacking the message, they have attacked the messenger, trying to discredit him any way they can.
Rove escaping charges or indictments is probably the biggest travesty of Justice in modern history. I yearn, daily, for what he has caused to "go around" to "come around" and hang that scheming Pink Piggy by his rear trotters.
- 1 vote
Or else the charges and harrassment against Karl Rove are the true travesty. Smoke and mirrors at those high levels. We mere mortals haven't a clue. We learn from liberal media that stacks the cards in their direction.
Where are the tapes of the meetings. Why does it seem that I am the only one address this issue?? Are you all not concerned about the tapes??

to say that it happens and just others will follow just explains that out country is a bunch of lemmin(sic). which I do not agree. And i guess you are from tx??
now THIS is some FUNNY stuff....about W and the White house staff....and nurseGolfer..I have used the word Lemmings...and hey..they just keep on a following...
so as a member of a country so young, how can we dictate what has been arond longer than we have. It seem that what our country is experiencing the same that the great king of england his have on his plate during the revolution.
Joe M,
Man, are you ever one lost S-O-B!?! In words to this effect, you stated "This book must be true or he'd be in custody and the book pulled off the shelves." What country do you live in? Have you ever heard of freedom of the press? There are hundreds if not thousands of books produced every year that are filled with fraudulent statements meant to do one thing -- PROMOTE AN AGENDA TO SELL BOOKS! Hey, I'm not a McCain fan either on many fronts but I certainly would NEVER discredit his proud Vietnam war record, call him a bad pilot or question his abilities to evade the enemy who were out to kill him. The record shows he was gravely injured trying to evade his captors. For crying out loud, you sound like you knew his circumstances and that he could have done better. What have you been smoking? What has that scoundrel Barack Obama done to win your vote? Barack probably would not have lasted 3 months in that prison camp and he'd have been singing like a bird within 30 minutes of the torture that John McCain went through! I agree wholeheartedly with your Hillary sentiments. But do us all a favor and keep your butt at home in November if your only reason for voting is to vote against a man like John McCain, a man who has shown through deeds and a lifelong service record that he can and will stand up for our country and protect us against those who would love to see all of us dead.
You did notice that the White House called him a liar rather than suing him for libel, didn't you? Scott McClellan is Jose Canseco: a questionable character telling a shocking tale. In case you didn't notice, nobody had the balls to sue Canseco either. If you're telling the truth, they never take you to court.

shut up have you ever served. To use the premise that because he was captured proves he is worhty is SSS. His position are at issuse, not his position, as a POW. Though sad that happend his time as a POW does not make him a good leader. He has lost many times tring to pull the heart strings of America. It still remains to be seen that he does not care to bring our boys/girls home.
Well, he also wants to avoid a more generous G.I. Bill because it will prevent the military from carrying on the Iraq War. I think he's wrong in this conclusion but I also think that it's sorry to deny the troops benefits they deserve because you want to make their best option redeployment to a war zone. I salute his military service, but I don't think he would be the best leader for our country.
- 2 votes
How dare you dictate what another can go through!. I appreciiate you opinion, yo can never understand what he went through, yet you find a position that you have to advocate for others that should follow?? what a jerk
Is it so bad the we want to end the "conflict" sounds like another war. Come on bring them boys/girls home. It that so bad?? We are not the arbritaior(sic) of the world. Our tax monies are spent to feed others, house others, but what what his happening here.???
Gotta,
I don't think any of the candidate's are qualified. The state of the union clearly shows in the candidate's for president. There are 100 senators, and several hundred in the house, assuming that holding a present political office is a prereq. I cannot believe that these are the best we have to offer. I will give McCain one thing, he is not a damn lawyer.
As far as tlhe book goes, it was written for profit, just as Hillarys, Bills, Obama's and all the rest. Never the less, If there are untruths in the book, we would have already seen the lawsuits start.
I have served in the military(air force) and and am a pilot. shoot downs only happen when you make a mistake, which we all do. casualities, capture, all stem from human error. I am not disputing his veterans status, nor his injury status, I am disputing running around claiming a war hero. There are many, many heros in the war he served in, most are dead, protecting others in their group. Being a POW for 5 yrs, does not qualify one as a hero. If so, where is his Medal of Honor? The man is another bush. and we all know what the last 8 yrs of mr. bush has done. We the people are up that creek with out a paddle for this election.
The writer of the article is lying when he says " In fact, Rove and Libby did help leak Plame's identity, as confirmed in a later criminal investigation. Libby had resigned by then, but Rove remained in office and eventually stepped down on his terms in August 2007."
Where is that a fact??? The fact is Richard Armitage gave the information to Robert Novak. Karl Rove has never been mentioned by Novak as being involved. Libby was charged and convicted of lying to a federal agent and not leaking information.
The criminal investigation confirmed none of the above. More liberal spin. Where are Mr. McCellan's facts supporting his statement that Karl rove was involved??
He lived it, Michael. If Rove doesn't sue him for libel, it's true.
- 1 vote
Karl Rove really should sue Scott McClellan for all the profits he made from this book. It's clear that Scott didn't write this book and that he was pressured to create a scandal out of his time to make the story worth paying for. But will it be worth the paycheck he was paid to sell out his friends through falsehoods and storytelling?? He'll get his 15 minutes of fame but we won't know who he is 4-6 months from now.
facts can be found in the recording of minutes which are required my law that all knew. Where are they???
Gotta -
How is it clear he didn't write this book? Who pressured him and how do you know? He said he wrote it. Most of what's in that book was already suspected long before the book came out. Something about a cloud over somebody's head.............

Nursegolfer, I served 22+ years on active duty with the Army, deployed 5 times including ODS and OIF, and Bosnia/Kosovo. My response point is that it was not his fault he was captured and to state otherwise is pure idiocy. Does this event in his life alone make him a hero? - NO. The fact that he honored his country and his comrades by conducting himself in the manner he did is what warrants the hero status. His leadership experience as a fleet commander in the Navy at the O6 level (CAPT) is all I need to know about his ability to lead. You don't get that far in the military unless you can lead and do it well. Obama has no real adult leadership or service record - NONE WHATSOEVER. And Hillary's biggest leadership claim goes to her ability to lead campaigns and serve as first lady. Give me a break! Neither have run a business nor have they every held a responsibity laden position. McCain wants to win this war - what is wrong with that? Cutting and running is not what McCain did in 6 years as a POW in Vietnam so why in the world would he start now? Wanting to bring the troops home as losers is FAR WORSE than wanting to bring home the troops as winners. What do you think these troops would appreciate more? We owe it to those who have given their lives to this cause to give them the resources and support to let their comrades win. Any Vietnam vet will tell you what being branded a loser does to an Army and to the vets that end up displaced as a result. Everyone currently deployed joined the military voluntarily, also knowing FULL WELL that going to war to fight Al Qaeda and our enemies was a great possibility. The respect owed to these young men and women who have risked everything for our freedom is something neither Obama nor Clinton will ever know. Why? - because they never served a day fighting for this country.
honored his country, by sending our troops to be killed
fleet commander NOT TRUE he was a pilot!!
so why in the world would he start now to win the election
as losers MY FATHER SAID TO WALK AWAY MAKES YOU MORE A WINNER AS WE SHOULD NOW!!@
What do yAny Vietnam vet will tell you what being branded a loser does to an Army and to the vets that end up displaced as a result.ou think these troops would appreciate more BEING HOME!! And you are a vet who should know that being directed to do a crime always has its implcations. Just think Hitler. Follow me an my thougts will bring redemtion for the past????
First thought of an order is, is it LEGAL, if not do not follow.
Gottalovem:
Everyone currently deployed joined the military voluntarily, also knowing FULL WELL that going to war to fight Al Qaeda and our enemies was a great possibility.
Al Qaeda, friend, they joined to fight Al Qaeda. Instead, they were sent to fight a secular enemy in Iraq that had less to do with 9/11 than Iran.
The respect owed to these young men and women who have risked everything for our freedom is something neither Obama nor Clinton will ever know. Why? - because they never served a day fighting for this country.
That's why you voted for Al Gore and then John Kerry over George W. Bush, right? Because both saw time in-country in Vietnam while George W. Bush was keeping the Viet Cong out of downtown Dallas? (Please answer this, because I'm eagerly awaiting your answer that you support combat vets over non-combatants)
BTW, would you illuminate how a cripple that never fought in the military, Franklin D. Roosevelt, became the best war leader of America from a wheelchair?
- 2 votes
Scott,
what are you saying out of downtown Dallas. This is just crazy.
But I do agree obout FDR. He cared about out nation, not just his pocketbook.
Gotta -
"never served a day fighting for this country"
I take it that you mean that servicemen and women who do not actively "fight" for this country are less than those who carry guns? ANY person who wears the uniform of this country deserves our respect. Any service personnel serving during a time of war is part of the war machine. I appreciate your service and that of my grandfather who was gassed with mustard gas in the trenches in World War I, my father who served stateside (Ft Knox, Ft Lewis and the Presidio) during WWII, my father-in-law who served in the South Pacific, my uncle who was shot down in a glider in WWII, and my husband who was a B-52 mechanic on Guam during Viet Nam. The only ones who have done any 'fighting' are my grandfather and my uncle, but that doesn't diminish the service of the rest of them.
Talk about 'elitist................'
